Etymology

The origin of Palata is not Puolauta, as this would yield Belarusian *Paluta, not **Palata. Palata derives from *Polotva > *Polota > Palata, meaning 'smth near Latvia', cf. Polish, Łotwa - 'Latvia'. Roberts7 14:18, 3 May 2015 (UTC) Roberts7 (talk • contribs)
