Fair use rationale for Image:RTE ONE.png
[edit]Image:RTE ONE.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Analogue Terrestrial
[edit]I have corrected the "analogue terrestrial" channels to all the actual UHF/VHF channels it is available on around the country, and specifying the system used here. Saying "channel 1" is totally meaningless - that's not a real channel number; it is just generally what programme position one would tune RTÉ One into on their TV set (assuming one knows how to set them to the posistions they want, which isn't always the case). It would be like saying RTÉ Radio One is on "channel 1" just because people often store it on preset 1 on their radios.
Stating the proper channels can also be of interest to TV DXing.
I have done the same corrections for the other Irish terrestrial channels.

[edit]Can anyone tell me about this programme (it was either on RTE 1 or RTE 2) I'd like to write an article about if. 81.157.67.159 (talk) 22:05, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- I seem to recall a program by this name, but sadly little else about it. Anyways, I've created a redirect to RTÉ One (the channel I think it was shown on) and if anyone can add more details then it can be expanded. Johnny Lucas (talk) 13:17, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- I have a feeling you mean Jo Maxi which, according to this, was a television programme in Ireland during the early 90s. Hope this helps. TheRetroGuy (talk) 22:03, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- Also see this link and the series was on RTÉ Two. TheRetroGuy (talk) 22:05, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Jo Maxi start in 1988 as part of RTÉ TWO's revamp as Network 2. It ran up until 1993 when it was replaced by Garfield and Friends. The final season of Jo Maxi ended the brand but each programme was referred to as being produced by JMTV productions (I assume part of RTÉ's Young People's department rather then an independent production company). The final season had 5 programmes as follows, Monday's Brash (an arts review show), Tuesday's Hullabulu (a chat show), Wednesday's Get a Life (help with study and work), Thursday's Babble (a debate show) and Friday's Plastic Orange (an alternative pop music show). —Preceding unsigned comment added by IrishTV (talk • contribs) 15:14, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Jo Maxi needs some work but it is a start. —Preceding unsigned comment added by IrishTV (talk • contribs) 16:19, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:You'reastarimage.jpg
[edit]The image Image:You'reastarimage.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Lede
[edit]The lede is misleading. It says "is Ireland's oldest and most popular television channel", yet both Ulster Television and BBC Northern Ireland are older. "Ireland" actually links to "Republic of Ireland", but this link is disguised by piping. The disguise should be removed so that readers are clear that the channel is not an all-Ireland one. Mooretwin (talk) 21:20, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- Mooretwin stop with your POV pushing while the Ireland naming collaboration is on going. I'm sick of it. The lead or title of no article is going to change. MITH 21:25, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- The above comment doesn't appear to address the points, and seems rather personal. Do any other editors have a view on the point I have made above about the misleading statement in the lede? Mooretwin (talk) 23:38, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- With the arbcom case ongoing you are probably best off sorting out the naming issue there. If you continue your campaign to use ROI as you are you fate may match Domer48's. WP:IECOLL is where to sort this out, making changes against this is not doing anyone any favours.MITH 23:46, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Why, then, did you make changes to Scouting Ireland while the same Arbcom case was ongoing? Is it different rules for different editors? Mooretwin (talk) 23:50, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't change anything. I reverted changes but did not make any direct changes regarding the issue myself.MITH 23:58, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- A revert is a change. And your revert was "directly regarding the issue". Indeed, the only reason you reverted was to remove Republic of Ireland from the text. Mooretwin (talk) 00:03, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- A revert is not a change. A revert is something which undoes the change.MITH 00:09, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- So what is a revert of a revert? Two negatives make a positive. Regardless, you intervened to support an edit against consensus "directly regarding the [naming] issue", while the Arbcom case was ongoing. Your concern, therefore, about the Arbcom case didn't manifest itself at Scouting Ireland: why then is it manifesting itself here? Mooretwin (talk) 00:13, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

I see you elected not to confront the inconsistency of your approach on this article and Scouting Ireland. No change here because of Arbcom: but change on Scouting IReland is fine despite Arbcom. Mooretwin (talk) 23:13, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
On Air Identity
[edit]Question:
This article should really grow, the current information is very limited. I am planning to update their programming strands as time goes on, but the channel is coming into its 50th year so it is going to take a while go go through each of the 5 decades and indeed this will cause the article to become more expanded as time goes on. Their on air identity will need to be move at a later date? IrishTV (talk) 11:26, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- At such time when you do expand the article certainly it may be necessary to create a new article, but as it is, I really don't think there's enough content to legitimise a seperate article. I can tell you however, I can't wait to see and read what you find out.howth575 (talk) 15:36, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
==== Would like some help with both RTÉ One's and RTÉ Two's articles, TV3 seems to get alot of editing for no apparent reason. I have continued to do much work on TG4's article. IrishTV (talk) 10:36, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Bullet Points
[edit]I don't see the reason for bullet points in certain sections. They don't look good. Chat shows are now all over the place. Can we add rather other information such as references rather than bullet pointing everything???? IrishTV (talk) 14:42, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Request to Update Irish Channels Share of Viewing
[edit]An impartial editor has reviewed the proposed edit(s) and asked the editor with a conflict of interest to go ahead and make the suggested changes. |
Hi all, I am looking to update the viewing share for the Irish channels (Virgin Media One, Virgin Media Two, Virgin Media Three, RTÈ One, RTÈ 2, TG4 and EirSport 1) using TAM Nielsen data from 2019. However, I have a Conflict of Interest as I am employed by one of them. I have posted this on all of the relevant pages as I'm hoping to get a consensus to go ahead.DarkerDai (talk) 08:57, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
