User:Brhaspati
The name
[edit]Brhaspati seeks to learn. He then imparts his knowledge to others. It seemed like a good login name for a Wikipedia contributor. Brhaspati is a nom-de-wiki.
I've been reading Wikipedia since about Aug 2002, and contributing since about Sep 2003 from various IP addresses, but I decided to get an account only in Jan 2005, as an impromptu New Year resolution. :-)
Editing style
[edit]I usually choose one article or a set of related articles and work on them for a few days or weeks before moving on to the next subject. I tend to pick stubs or almost-stubs whose subject I know well, and work on them. I tend to add a lot of new material and make articles long, sometimes exceeding the 32 KB limit. It's usually beneficial for the article if someone rephrases and tightens sentences after my major edits. Some sections may become mature and may need to become articles of their own.
When I'm bored with writing and expanding, I hang around on Special:Recentchanges, hitting new nonsense articles with {{speedy}}, or listing them on WP:VfD if they don't qualify for {{speedy}}. I revert vandalism if it's obvious from the edit summary. (I'm pleasantly surprised by how many vandals write very helpful edit summaries like pwn3d by teh Ph4nt0m). Occasionally I vote on WP:VfD, where my delete:keep ratio is between 40:60 and 60:40.
Projects I've worked on
[edit]Past
[edit]- Chennai and related articles
- Indian Railways
Current
[edit]- Madras bashai (currently allowing it to grow "organically")
- Wikipedia:Notice board for India-related topics/INCOTW, (only if I'm not completely lost by the topic :-)).
Planned
[edit]Subpages
[edit]- /funstuff (a page where I collect funny stuff from Wikipedia, but which is too narrow or specific for WP:BJAODN)
- /indiadistricts (a list of administrative districts in India that need stubs)
- /ActiveStealth (my favorite article)
Barnstar
[edit]A barnstar in appreciation of your untiring spirit in improving the article on Chennai. Wonderful work there. Wish you continue to contribute with the same spirit in the future. -- Sundar 10:16, Jan 13, 2005 (UTC)
