History records this as a primary source documenting the creation of a class of computer serfs, working on the property owned personally by Mr. Gates indirectly through the Microsoft corporation. The lack of knowledge barrier created by excluding publication of the computer machine code, against the First Amendment---implying that any law cited in support of such censorship is unconstitutional---is an assault on the free enterprise system and capitalism. The coincidence of the bicentennial is circumstantial evidence of this attack, as is the conflict with the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union knew that by allowing Mr. Gates to proceed, they were shutting down rival efforts to improve upon the knowledge contained in the machine code for Altair BASIC. This demand to create a private reserve of curiosity, interest in modification and improvement, and so on is deadly poison for the spirit and health of the free enterprise system. This anti-knowledge approach has turned Microsoft into the killer plant from the little shop of horrors. 70.171.155.43 (talk) 06:04, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
