Welcome
Welcome ShadowDragon,
You have provided terrifically detailed additions to Gary Locke. I can see that you're a serious Wikipedian interested in improving our project. If you stay for a while, you'll discovered that collectively, we're a cooperative and friendly community. We are all here to learn, and hopefully can give something back. If you have questions or doubts of any sort, do not hesitate to post them on the Village Pump, somebody will respond ASAP. Other helpful pages include:
Just keep in mind that while relevant discussions and constructive criticisms and are welcome, unproductive and/or destructive insults are not (see Wikiquette).
Who knows? Perhaps you'll soon become a Wikipediholic and make it into the list of Wikipedia:Most active Wikipedians! :-)

p.s. Just one thing: There's no need to type reporter if the redirect works fine. We only do that "pipe trick" if there's ambiguity, like Formosa.
- Thank you for your kind comments and the resources you have provided, Menchi. -- ShadowDragon
Washington gubernatorial election, 2004
Is the Washington State 2004 Gov election in Aug or Nov of 04 you put Aug 4 2004 on the page? -- User:Smith03

Smith Tower
I replaced your Smithtower.gif image with a Smithtower.jpg (JPEG). The JPEG format is specifically designed to store photographs. Using a JPEG file, I managed to store an image with larger dimensions, yet taking up half the disk space (and bandwidth). Generally, you always have to experiment with formats, though. See for yourself if you like the change. --branko 00:00, 1 May 2004 (UTC)
- I like the change from GIF to JPG, but the new sky seems too bright. Maybe you could find a better medium by tinkering with the range a bit. — ShadowDragon 08:27, 2 May 2004 (UTC)
Seattle Central Library
I have partially reverted your edits to Seattle Central Library. Please see Talk:Seattle Central Library for details.--TreyHarris 08:33, 6 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Has the maximum credit level per quarter changed? Back in the early 90s, schools only paid for 15 credits. I hadn't heard about this change, which would be welcome if it occurred. How did you hear about it? Jwrosenzweig 16:56, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- It must have changed, because I had 18 credits paid for in Fall 2003 and in Spring 2004. I don't know when the change occured, though. ShadowDragon 17:01, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Interesting. If it's not too prying of me, can I ask which community college you attend? Long ago, I attended Shoreline Community College, just north of Seattle -- got myself a fine education there, which I still look back on with some pride, even after three other universities and time have intervened. Jwrosenzweig 17:42, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- I attended Columbia Basin College in Pasco Fall 2002–Spring 2004. I'll be going to UW this fall. I'm quite anxious to get out of this Podunk and live in Seattle again. ShadowDragon 18:00, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Have fun at the UW -- it's a great school, and I liked it there. :-) Good luck in your studies, Jwrosenzweig 19:50, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Categorization
Hi! Thanks for the good work on Category:King County, Washington...I've been trying hard to set up sensible category divisions too rather than just senselessly lumping hundreds of articles together under the most general headings. I myself have been cross-listing each city article under "Cities of [State]" and the county that it was located in, rather than "Cities of ____ County"—I figured that the "Cities of [State]" category wouldn't turn into a mess even with a lot of entries because all the articles would be of the same genus and so mere alphabetizing would be sufficient. I have nothing against your system though, and I would think that eventually this will all be set up so the category pages can be viewed according to preference of detail, with the categories collapsed into sub-categories or expanded.
- That's what I was thinking re:expansion of subcategories. Also, in the case of large counties, listing cities under the county category could become cumbersome.
One suggestion, though this may not be something you want to spend the time on as there are others who will eventually do it—using the articles on bridges as an example, those should also be cross-listed under something like "Bridges of Washington," or however narrow you think it needs to be based on the number (i.e., "Bridges of Seattle"). That way those can be eventually tied to groupings like Category:Bridges in the United States, itself under Category:Bridges. Those local bridge categories could then also be connected to local categories on transportation, perhaps. Hopefully everything can not only be categorized based on where it is, but what it is as well. Thanks again for your contributions! Postdlf 19:26 23 June 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion! Category:Geography of King County, Washington would be a very sensible category. I think I'll make it now, in fact. :) ShadowDragon 19:52, 23 Jun 2004 (UTC)
French translation
There is an article that I'm particularly interested in, but I cannot translate it as my French skills don't go beyond IB French. I mean, I can do a bit of it but not all of it. I've tried getting in touch with the contributor on French Wikipedia but no dice. Would you translate an article for me, or no? I'll tell you what it is when you give me an affirmative answer...and if you refuse, hey, can't blame a guy for trying, eh? Mike H 23:58, Jun 23, 2004 (UTC)
- I can help, sure! My French isn't perfect either though, so no guarantees . . . . ShadowDragon 00:10, 24 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- The article in question is Santa Barbara (television). There is a Français link there already, and you can click on that and translate. However, if you know about the show, there really wouldn't be a need to translate...just for writing. The show is a bit before my time (although my sisters loved it). Mike H 00:12, Jun 24, 2004 (UTC)
That was great! You are now my newest bestest friend for life! *mwah!* (See my user page to understand what the hell I'm getting at). ;) Mike H 01:31, Jun 24, 2004 (UTC)
- :) Note that I didn't translate the section Critique de la série because it was basically one anonymous user's opinions on why the series succeeded. ShadowDragon 01:38, 24 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- What did it say, loosely? I've studied enough on old soap operas to know whether or not they'd be valid or just POV. And I match your :) and raise you two :) :)! Mike H 01:41, Jun 24, 2004 (UTC)
- Loosely, Santa Barbara suceeded while yielding to the rules of the genre. It had high quality writing and non-caricature characters. Its plots weren't always the best, but they were always emotional and taken to the extreme. A real success in France but not in the U.S. It was saved several times by its fans. Who could forget the couple Eden and Cruz, the verbal disputes between Sophie and Gina, and the loves of Kelly, Julia, Ted and others? :) :) ShadowDragon 02:03, 24 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Yes, that's very POV and I'm surprised it hasn't been taken off fr.wikipedia.org. While the basic elements of the message are true, it waxes fan through and through. Thanks again, you are the best! :) :) I've even added a message to my user page to indicate the cleanup progress. Mike H 02:06, Jun 24, 2004 (UTC)

- You already completed two years of college while you were in high school? So you're 18, too, huh? I was in the International Baccalaureate program. In August I'm going to the University of South Florida. The expected time to get a degree is three years but I might be out earlier due to the IB credits. Mike H 02:22, Jun 24, 2004 (UTC)
- Yup! I guess you read the article Running Start, then? I didn't even take any classes at high school for my senior year (and only French the year before that). Between Running Start and AP, I already have 108 college credits. (UW will only take 90. Waaah!) After two years at the U I should be done. ShadowDragon 02:52, 24 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks for reverting my talk page. If Rienzo keeps it up, I will have to report him...or whatever I can do.
- I read the article because it was on your user page and I wanted to know what the term meant. I took both AP and IB classes. In May, I had to take my exams, in English Higher Level, Biology Higher Level, History Higher Level, Math Studies Standard Level, and French B Standard Level. I think I did well on all of them. Mike H 15:47, Jun 24, 2004 (UTC)
:( I could cry right now. Mike H 19:02, Jun 24, 2004 (UTC)
- Why? 64.252.163.47's articles? ShadowDragon 19:13, 24 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- They're everywhere and they're undermining my legitimate work. I'm sorry if I sound like a whiny bitch, but soap operas are one of the few areas I know fairly well. Mike H 19:22, Jun 24, 2004 (UTC)
- Well it would appear that that user's done or now. It was only four articles anyway. If you have your preferences set correctly those articles should still show up red/maroon. ShadowDragon 19:37, 24 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Only four articles THAT time. He's been here since before I've arrived and created probably over a hundred of those pithy things. Mike H 19:40, Jun 24, 2004 (UTC)
Seattleites
Done. Thanks for the reminder--I've not been a heavy user of categories, and didn't know you were supposed to do that. See you around, Meelar (talk) 20:40, 24 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Seattle TV Stations
Hey, there! How have you been?
I saw you edit some Seattle TV stations and I thought, if you weren't busy, you'd like to put them in the Wikiproject for Television Stations. There's a template for a table that I have already used for my local stations. See WKRG, WEAR, and WPMI for examples. Edit as fit, if you'd like to take up the challenge. Hope to hear from you. :) Mike H 01:14, Jun 27, 2004 (UTC)
- Sure, when I can get around to it. ShadowDragon 01:19, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- ...and how have you been? I wasn't just asking that to be polite, you know. Mike H 01:19, Jun 27, 2004 (UTC)
- Good . . . et tu? ShadowDragon 01:22, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Nice. I finally got to swim again after a week of not being able to (long story...tornado picked up the glass table and shattered it in the pool). Plus, we went out shopping and all that. Spent $15 at the bargain sale at Waldenbooks and another $12 or so at the bargain DVD bin at Wal-Mart. They were offering My Neighbor Totoro for $5.50. The outlet mall wanted $19.99! Craziness!
So tell me about your day. Eventful? Mike H 01:25, Jun 27, 2004 (UTC)
- No, not at all. The only thing I can think of is that I'm a little hungry. Oh, and I'm listening to a song by Merrie Amsterburg in XMMS. That's all . . . ShadowDragon 01:37, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- You corrected my tags on your talk page? How anal is that? Mike H 01:48, Jun 27, 2004 (UTC)
- Disambiguation can become such a habit. ShadowDragon 03:58, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- I guess it is, innit? I have a headache. Oi. Mike H 19:15, Jun 27, 2004 (UTC)
help
I have been working on Bridges in Portland, Oregon and through the course of that I have been trying to disambiguate some of your previous work. I moved Fremont Bridge to Fremont Bridge (Seattle, Washington) and I will change Fremont Bridge to a disambiguation page once I can fix the "What links here" pages that I am having troubles with. I can't figure out how to rename the fremontbridge.jpg image, or fix Category:Bridges in Washington

Seattle: featured article
Hey there, regarding WikiProject Seattle, how much further do you think we have to go until Seattle is worthy of (self-)nomination as a featured article? Thanks--Lukobe 06:49, 1 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Seattle map
Cool additions to the Seattle article. What are your criteria for additions to the new map of Seattle? Anything we have an article on whose location can be pinpointed, except in such cases where that would end up being ridiculous (such as in the central business district)? or....
Thanks --Lukobe 21:18, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Also--any roads/freeways, etc.?
- It's all pretty subjective. I've tried to go for what gets the most visitors (esp. tourists), what's the most well-known, and what's the most significant. I've also tried to avoid including so many things that the map gets too crowded.
- I think I might do an inset map of Downtown Seattle, which would free me up to include more places throughout Seattle without having different standards for places Downtown and places outside of Downtown. If I do that, I'd like to strive for something fairly similar to Image:Ph map manila large.png.
- I do plan to add interstates, state highways, and ferry routes, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Parks and other large places (UW especially) could use highlighted areas rather than pinpoints as well.
- I'm also thinking of doing maps of Seattle neighborhoods. Whether to do simple locator maps or more detailed maps that show what's inside the neighborhoods, I don't know. ShadowDragon 22:21, 11 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- I would like the map of Seattle neighborhoods. Maybe you could upload the blank map without the names on it, so that others could make maps with labels on them too? Thanks for your great work, DanKeshet 07:40, Jan 17, 2005 (UTC)

Final Fantasy 6
I added the job names and original Japanese to the little insert on the right. I also redid a lot of the first characters that weren't done before. The job names appear on the menu screen next to a character's name in the Japanese version. The below are the classes and Japanese names for some of the other characters:
US name, Japanese name, Japanese name in kana, class name
Sasquatch (literally, "Snow Man" in Japanese)
* Original US version said Vicks. US PSX rerelease said Biggs, fixing it to match Star Wars 4 as intended. (This wasn't Ted Woolsey's fault. The Japanese really says Vicks rather than Biggs...)
translation
There is an enormous backlog at Wikipedia:Translation into English#French-to-English, more than for all other languages combined. I see you are signed up at Wikipedia:Translators_available#French-to-English. Would you be at all interested in taking on one of these articles? (Full disclosure: this is a bit of a "mass mailing", I'm working my way down the whole list of French-to-English translators.) -- Jmabel 00:10, Oct 10, 2004 (UTC)
Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Hikipedia
Hello Neal,
I've noticed that you have submitted a few nice contributions to the article about Snoqualmie Falls.
I am currently gathering feedback about the Hikipedia project (which also includes an article about Snoqualmie Falls). Could you please give me some feedback about the Hikipedia site? Would you consider contributing to Hikipedia?
I know that one can add trail descriptions to a regular Wikipedia, but there are quite a few things that would be too difficult too acomplish: trail-oriented search, embedded weather forecast, voting for trail difficulty and enjoyability, trail reports, links and images of guidebooks. Additionally it is impossible to use content from Wikipedia in a leaflet or advertisment (because of "invariant sections" requirement of Gnu license).
Please let me know what you think about Hikipedia (you can use the feedback page, or reply here).
Thank you for your time,
Lukasz Anforowicz

Fair use rationale for Image:MonkeyIsland landscape.png
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:MonkeyIsland landscape.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Freedomeagle 03:51, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Setzer Gabbiani menu.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Setzer Gabbiani menu.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Invitation to Meetup/Seattle6, a focus group
Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington (Seattle campus), and my group is reaching out to Wikipedians in the Puget Sound area. We're hosting a focus group designed to gather information on what Wikipedians would like to know about each other when interacting on Wikipedia. Our end goal is to create an embedded application that helps people quickly know more about others' history and activity on Wikipedia, and we feel our design will be much more useful if it's based on insights of users like you.
I'm hoping that the chance to help out local researchers, to engage in lively face-to-face discussion with other Seattle Wikipedians, and to contribute to Wikipedia in a new way will entice you to join us. The session lasts 2 hours and snacks are provided - one is April 8 (Wednesday) starting at 6 pm and the other is April 18 (Saturday) starting at 10 am. (Sessions will be held on UW Seattle campus - directions will be sent after registration.) Your contribution will be greatly appreciated!
Ready to join us? RSVP here. Want to know more? Visit our user talk page . Please help us contact other local Wikipedians, too!

NowCommons: File:Ice cave.jpg
File:Ice cave.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Big Four Glacier Ice cave.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: . Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 16:15, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
