Hidden track

Contains the hidden track "Big Distraction"

I've heard two copies of this CD, and both include the Too Late instrumental rather than Big Distraction. The first copy I heard was definitely a first release as it was right after the album dropped, but it's likely the second copy is a second pressing because I bought it in 2005. A very nice article on the album, but I have a few comments:

1. I can't check the audio files (because I have Vista, which means "doing things" is impossible), but check to make sure that everything is working with them.
2. You should spend no more than one sentence stating the obvious: who is Michael Beinhorn in terms of his relevance to the album. ie. Matthew Wilder's is mentioned and it is explained why it is notable to mention his work (he produced Tragic Kingdom); Beinhorn should do the same, especially since his wikipedia page is somewhat subpar. In addition, Robert Christgau's biography is better, but again you should quickly state who he is so that readers unfamiliar with his work will at least understand that he's not just a nobody. With NME, you should include in brackets what it stands for. All of this may seem obvious to you or I, but perhaps not to someone unfamiliar with the scene. Also, a minor complaint is that if I didn't already know who No Doubt were, I wouldn't get a very good idea of who they are from this article. Obviously this isn't the No Doubt article, but again, stating the obvious for a little context for unfamiliar readers (maybe a sentence or two at the beginning of "Background") might be helpful.
3. Under "Background," "When scheduling conflicts arose with Beinhorn, the band interviewed several producers and decided on Glen Ballard, who had produced Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill (1995), because of pressure from manager Jimmy Iovine and Ballard's belief in not using heavy production." should be split into two sentences, as it's a bit hard to follow in its current state.
4. "In early 1999, No Doubt released "New", co-produced by Talking Heads member Jerry Harrison, for the soundtrack of the film Go (1999)." (Background) requires a citation.
5. The "Track listing" and "Credits" sections require referencing – they don't need to be in-line citations, but there does need to be references. Also, under "Track listing," "The American release contains an instrumental for "Too Late" as a hidden track appended to "Dark Blue". European and Australian editions of the album list the bonus track "Big Distraction" as the fifteenth track, and the Japanese version lists "Full Circle" as the fifteenth track. Both "Big Distraction" and "Full Circle" contain the "Too Late" instrumental as a hidden track." would do well with an inline citation. If I've missed where you referenced these sections, please just point them out to me (my vision is a bit blurry after an eye exam).
6. Refs #13 and #22 are broken, while ref #32 just leads to the main search page of the site.

I've made most of the changes. The audio files do work, and I added some context for those instances you mentioned, except for the NME simply because the full name is very rarely used in reference to it and calling it the New Musical Express would probably confuse people. Also, the information about "New"'s release or the track listing and credits doesn't need an explicit reference since it's inherently referenced to the single itself or the album itself. I updated the RIAA link; the Channel 4 link looks dead and the Wayback Machine doesn't have it, so I added the date of inactivity as WP:CITE recommends; and everyHit.com doesn't allow for links to individual searches. 17Drew 19:13, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm okay with all of that explanation, except that the UK chart position requires a citation from somewhere. If you can't link to the search results (which don't even seem to give the overall album ranking, at least not when I was playing around with it), then you should find another source. I think I know what the problem is. The database has it listed as Return To Saturn by No Doubt so I just did an album search for No Doubt, and it worked. Do you think it would be best if there were a note in the reference or something (since I don't know of anywhere else that has the information)? 17Drew 20:09, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
