Talk:Terran Confederacy
No more redirect of article
[edit]This article is extremely notable. Gold Nitrate 05:36, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- This approach to the article (which was originally written by me anyway) does not conform to WP:FICTION. This is not to say that the Confederacy should not be covered - a whole series of rewrites for the StarCraft lore articles is underway and the Confederacy will be featured in those, but until then the Confederacy, or any other faction, does not have enough coverage to warrant an article and should remain as a redirect. -- Sabre 10:17, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
What about Epsilon Squadron?
[edit]What about the Epislon Squadron? They were in brood war, correct? TomStar81 23:36, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- No, I don't think they were. Whenever you fight Yellow Terrans, they are acting as placeholders, and most likely are not the true Epsilon Squadron. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.216.220.2 (talk • contribs)
All the spoliers?
[edit]do we need all the "warning plot or spolier ending details below? It seems that all the sections have at least one.

What happened to the flag?
[edit]What happened to the flag? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.174.135.175 (talk • contribs)
- 69.148.130.115,aka "some guy" on the design team, has stated that the flag is not representive of the Terran Confederacy, check the comments on the article history. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.122.3.120 (talk • contribs)
- However, this is simply not the case. I refer you to the Episode I cutscenes of Open Rebellion, where the camera shows a Confederate flag and then draws out to reveal it to be on a comms satellite, and to The Inguaration, where at least two Battlecruisers are clearly shown with the Confederate flag moments before destruction. Rather than going with what "some guy" claiming to be on the design team says, I suggest that we go with fact from the game. I'm putting it back in, and I will do so again if it is removed again. -- S@bre 16:08, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Ok, I looked at those cutscenes a bit closer. It isn't the exact Confederate flag as we know it, it's been spiced up a bit. Take a look:
- Reference 1: Satellite from Rebel Yell cinematic 3.
- Reference 2: Battlecruiser hull from Rebel Yell cinematic 4.
- Reference 3: Battlecruiser bridge from Rebel Yell cinematic 4.
As you can see, it only has nine stars, a white border throughout and indents across the sides. Accordingly, I've editted the flag to represent the insignia in the cinematics. The first one is what we were using, the standard Confederate navy jack. The second one is an editted version of that file, made to mirror the cinematic references:
I'm not sure I've got the licensing correct though, so please help there. -- S@bre 09:43, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
Clean-up
[edit]I'm going to try to clean up this article. It's long and messy, most of it is copied straight from the StarCraft wikia and that alone is reason to change it. I'm starting with the Squadrons, cutting them down a brief summary of what they do rather than the current running narrative. I've also ditched the small squadrons from silly tooltips at the Blizzard site or from Maps of the Month (which shouldn't be considered canon). We know nothing about these squadrons so there is no point in including them and the military section should be kept to significant squadrons. -- S@bre 16:57, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've now done sections 2, 3 and 4, and have readied the reference section with the basic set of references for citing most of the changes. I'll fully reference everything once I redo section 1. -- S@bre 19:52, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'm currently redoing section 1 and saving as I go. Please don't edit other bits in the section until I've done. -- S@bre 09:42, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I'm done. I've cut down the history section significantly, and have attempted to move away from the horrible narrative present in the previous version. Please note, due to the lack of any real time or event distinction between SC and BW (BW just rolls smoothly on from where SC finished, they could easily have been together in the original release), the entire thing is referred to as the Brood War in the novels and implied by Blizzard. This makes more sense than two separate wars involving the same factions (with a couple of new ones moving in and out) in the same time with mostly the same objectives. So please leave that in. Please also leave it as Cerberus Squadron, it is much tidier than having a Cerberus Recon Squad stuck amongst the other squadrons. -- S@bre 11:08, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
