[edit]- Okudjava wanted to become a Russian writer but never wrote a published novel. None of his poems were published at the time they were written, as he only shared them with his friends and distributed them to the public through privatly recorded tapes.
This paragraph is factually incorrect, I took a liberty to remove it. (a) He did wrote a published novel. At least four, in fact. (b) "None" is overgeneralisation. In 1950s perhaps, but certainly not in 1980s.
I moved the page from Bulat Okudjava to Bulat Okudzhava, which reflects the most common transliteration into English (verified by Google and even by references on Wikipedia). Changed the transliteration within the article as well. Hope no one minds.
Georgian spelling?
[edit]Is ბულატ ოქუჯავა really correct? I don't get any single Google hit on that. It may be a limitation of Google of course. Mlewan 06:33, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know a single word of Georgian (as the matter of fact, I don't know anything about this language), but I think I've found that correct spelling would be ბულატ ოკუჯავას.--Vitriden 22:22, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- ოკუჯავას was changed to ოკუჯავა without comment by Island in the latest revision, but s/he seems to be right. If I read the page about Georgian grammar right, the ს (s) was a dative marker, which should not be there. The problem with the initial spelling was that it said ქ (k) instead of კ (k'). - Sorry, that will teach me not to get involved with things I don't have a clue about.--Vitriden 01:27, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
- No reason to be sorry. What you wrote was the first correct form on the page (afaik). The only problem was that dictionaries usually use the nominative form instead of the dative. Yours was a step forward! Mlewan 05:18, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
the translated song just added
[edit]Is this appropriate for a Wikipedia entry? I didn't want to offend the translator by just removing it, but it seems out of place to me. If others agree, it should probably be deleted. Okudzhavofile (talk) 03:48, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
