I don't understand the use of the word "cult" in this article. Is it just subtle vandalism?
No, its not. subcultures are sometimes called "teenage cults" or just "cult" for short. This can be seen both in popular books about subcultures (as in Marshall's "Spirit of '69" or academic resources). --M. Alexander 17:27, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Still though, the wording doesn't do a good job explaining that, and the link just confuses things more. I'm going to change it to "subculture," if "cult" is an important term for dealing with this subculture then probably that should be explained in detail. --140.103.133.75 16:01, 30 July 2005 (UTC)
- Marshall himself uses cult throughout this book and its companion volume Skinhead Nation to refer to what others have variously called a subculture, a movement, etc.
