Date of Birth
[edit]It says on Pauline's profile, that she was born on July 8, 1958 but if you see this link [1], it says she was born on July 8, 1959 so which one do we believe the one already on her profile or the one on IMDb??.
Hello! magazine agrees July 8, 1959 in biog.ref. www.hellomagazine.com/profiles/pauline-quirke/ [2] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.168.42.11 (talk) 00:14, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- The article now says "born 1957". The Companies House entries for the Pauline Quirke Academy[3], under her married name of Pauline Sheen, also list her date of birth as July 1959, and I understand this is also referenced in her Desert Island Discs appearance (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0093nl9). It seems abundantly clear that the 1959 date is the correct one.
- The only reference being given for 1957 reference is a FreeBMD entry for a different Pauline Quirke born that year. The FreeBMD entry for the subject of this article can be found at https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/information.pl?scan=1&r=219649433:0150&d=bmd_1627336144. That contains a link to a scanned image of the original register entry.
- For that reason I am going to correct the date to 1959 and include all these references. Hopefully that will put a stop to the slow-paced edit war that's been going on over the last month. WaggersTALK 10:22, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
- If any more evidence is needed, there's this MSN article[4] talking about Pauline talking in 2019 "ahead of her 60th birthday". There are many, many more reliable sources pointing to 1959 as her year of birth than any other. WaggersTALK 10:34, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Date of birth
[edit]Google says Pauline was born on 8th July 1959 2A01:4B00:C104:1200:FD10:FDD7:13CC:8D9D (talk) 19:34, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
- yes, let’s just end this silly argument, please. 2A02:C7C:5676:8D00:D9F9:50F7:DF89:FD9 (talk) 19:15, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Belbury is the one who keeps removing the date of birth but has failed to engage in either of the discussions on this talk page about it. As per the earlier discussion, there are multiple reliable, third party sources that provide the subject's DOB and therefore, per WP:DOB, we can include at least the year of birth if not the full date. Perhaps Belbury would like to articulate his objections here instead of engaging in a slow motion edit war? WaggersTALK 13:53, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- As if any more references were needed
- In Pauline Quirke's own book, Where Have I Gone?, she gives her birthday (8th July) on page 200, although she doesn't give her year of birth in that book
- People of Today, published by Debrett's Peerage Limited, gives her full birth date as 8th July 1959
- The Book of Beasts: Folklore, Popular Culture and Nigel Kneale’s ATV TV Series by Andrew Screen gives the same date
- WaggersTALK 14:19, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hello there, I didn't notice the 2021 thread, I'd just removed the date of birth a few times this year when it lacked a source, or was only sourced to WP:BLPPRIMARY records.
- Looks like the minor mention in the Andrew Screen book would do here, although Quirke's biography plus any non-tabloid news story that gives her age would probably be stronger on fact-checking. WP:RSP considers People of Today to be
not adequately independent
, though, so that one should be avoided. Belbury (talk) 15:05, 16 August 2024 (UTC)- Thanks, that's really useful and I bow to your greater knowledge of RSP :) WaggersTALK 12:28, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
